Distributing the Blame: Is it my SEO applications or is it Google?
I confess. Before hearing about SEO applications and Web promotion trade, I was of the opinion that Google was incredible. I Googled everything from people, to visuals, to news to weird objects and heedlessly trusted the results. Then I learned about SEO apps and an entire field centered on site optimization, and my attitudes changed. But even before my revelation, having done some philosophical musings, I got a feeling that search engines, Google included, know far from all, and reveal to the users a fraction of what they know.
My search travails soon convinced me that Flikr is a more comprehensive image search source, that with the assistance of feeds I can access nice news coverage without having to rummage through Google search retrieval (rummaging seems more descriptive than Google search), and human search is best handled by Facebook. It seems like when I look for strange gadgets on Google, the results are often messy, to put it kindly. Try Googling for SEO software and other SEO connected themes on Google and you are almost prepared to lose your sanity. I mean, seriously, what’s the relationship between SEO tools and career websites or online casinos? Fortunately, in my distress.
So when news of free link building software and the whole industry revolving around it came into my humble worldview, my qualms about domains appearing on page one of Google increased exponentially. Do they merit to be there and who is to blame, Google or webmasters using SEO products. The moral quandary is immense. Do I stop using my SEO rank checker or do I quit using Google instead? I resolved that I can’t turn away from Google just yet. At least not till the worthy rival enters the market. For now I will keep juggling between Blekko, Google and the above methods to complement the SERP mess that Google is. And, oh,yes, I will keep using my SEO software.
Frankly, SEO tools is the reason why guys like myself get some visibility on the web. intelligent as they are, search engine search algos are not likely to find some little guy and index his website highly. In this regard, I remain an unyielding believer in SEO applications and organic search. If it was all about the cash, the multinational entities would squish me before I knew it. And there are up to one thousand powerbrands on the Fortune roll! But here is something else that irks me and other backlinks checker users, I am certain. There are individuals who invest in SEO applications and use them to sell dresseson online education sites and such. What we see is rubbish that not only permeates the web but is also well valued by search engines.
What is the public reaction to this? People Google SEO application reviews and will instead find unrelated SERPs. They get disillusioned. So much for the “Internet justice”. Does this mean that SEO application and service industry is harmful? Not necessarily.
The abusers of SEO software have to stop bastardizing the Net but it’s like ordering hackers to stop cracking the code. The bad side about it is that black hat SEOs are abusing the prospect to be seen on the Web that is offered to the random guy like me. For now users just have to live with them. We can only hope that Google will put more effort into spotting the schemers unethically using SEO software, and if Google doesn’t, the next Google will.
